Frequently Asked Questions – Self-Defense Classes

Women’s Self-Defense Classes

What will I learn in a women’s self-defense class?

Our classes focus on situational awareness, practical self-defense techniques, and confidence-building. You’ll learn to read body language, escape holds, use everyday objects for protection, and respond effectively in real-life scenarios.

Do I need any prior experience?
A: No experience is necessary. Classes are designed for all skill levels and focus on hands-on practice and real-world scenarios.

Most classes are 2–3 hours, including instruction, practice, and drills.

What should I wear to class?

At least once a quarter. These skills are use or lose skills. Without keeping up with your skills, you won’t remember them when something happens.

Teen Self-Defense Classes

What ages are teen classes suitable for?

Teen self-defense classes are designed for ages 12–18, suitable for beginners and those with some experience.

Yes! Teens learn practical, hands-on skills for everyday situations, including awareness, escape techniques, and verbal de-escalation.

Absolutely. Classes are designed to be inclusive and safe, focusing on skill-building rather than physical strength.

You can register online via our Class Calendar or contact us directly for assistance. If you do not see a class that works with your schedule, ask about our private classes.

Children’s Self-Defense Classes

What age group is appropriate for children’s classes?

Our children’s self-defense program is suitable for ages 5–11 and focuses on fun, interactive learning while teaching safety and confidence. We like to separate the classes into small groups such as 5-8, 9-12 as each age learns something different. Don’t forget to check out out Girl Scout Classes as well.

Children learn personal safety, awareness, assertiveness, and basic defense moves in a supportive environment.

All exercises are supervised and age-appropriate, with instructors using protective gear and gentle techniques.

Parents are welcome to observe, but it’s not required. Many children thrive in the independent learning environment. We want the parents for the last hour of the class as we will also be teaching you how to talk to your children and work with your children on self-defense techniques.
