Welcome back to this week’s did you know series.

Did you know that pepper spray doesn’t work as it does on TV? No. On TV, they make it look nice and like it’s like hairspray, and it just goes everywhere, and then that’s what stops the bad guy.

That’s not how it works in real life. In real life, your pepper spray is coming out of a little hole and will come out in a stream. With that stream, you want to go for the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Whether that’s a T or a Z, just make sure that you’re hitting that bad guy in those sensitive areas. And then just remember, it’s pressurized so that it will shoot out. My pepper spray goes up to 16 feet.

Other pepper sprays go, four to twelve feet. Just make sure that whatever brand you get, you’re holding it and carrying it properly. It needs to be in your hand, ready to go at all times.

If it’s buried at the bottom of your purse, it doesn’t work. It’s going to take you too long to grab it out of your purse than actually to use it when you need it. So it’s in your hands, ready to go.

Almost all pepper sprays have you move your thumb with the toggle switch, over and down. That’s it.

Make sure you use your thumb, not your finger.

Remember that T or the Z. Get it in the eyes, nose, and mouth. Go a little bit higher, too, because in an intact situation, you’re going to fall down. So make sure you go a little bit higher.

And remember, it’s not like the movies. I will help break down all those different movie aspects because some things just look great in the movies, but aren’t really good in real life. As always, stay safe out there.
